Hanna Tetteh signs petition to free “Montie three

Foreign Affairs minister Hanna Tetteh is the latest to join the bandwagon of ministers to sign the “Montie three” petition.
The Supreme Court, last month, slapped the trio of Accra-based
Montie FM presenter Salifu Maase, popularly known as Mugabe and his panelists Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn with a four-month jail term for scandalizing the court.
A petition asking President John Mahama to pardon the triad was subsequently opened, attracting several dignitaries and Ministers of the government to plead for clemency.
Hanna Tetteh’s signing of the petition Tuesday August 9 puts and end to the growing suspicion that she was shying away from the move to have the three men pardoned.
The “Montie three” has so far attracted over 100,000 signatures.
Council of State receives petitions
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, on behalf of President John Mahama, Monday, presented to the Council of State petitions received in respect of the incarceration of three persons for contempt of court.
The petitions were received from lawyers of the jailed trio and a Civil Society Group, Research & Advocacy Platform.
Presenting the petitions to the chairperson of the Council, Madam Cecilia Johnson, Mr. Debrah said the President is looking forward to the advice of the Council.
The chairperson announced that the petitions will be submitted to the Legal Committee of the Council for initial review before the Council, as a whole, meets to consider the issues.
